Kirk finished out the inning, but it sounds like after consulting with the training staff the Jays decided to take the cautious approach and give him the rest of the afternoon off. He’ll presumably be put through the concussion protocol just to make sure that he checks all the boxes before returning to action. Tyler Heineman replaced him behind the dish on Sunday and would be in line for more action if Kirk is forced to miss any additional time.

Barger did his damage in the seventh inning, crushing a Collin Snider cutter for a 363-foot (107.2 mph EV) solo shot that extended the Blue Jays’ lead to 8-1. He also drew a walk and scored on George Springer’s three-run blast in the fifth inning. With his 2-for-4 afternoon, Barger is now hitting .241/.305/.407 with one home run and eight RBI in his time with the Jays.

The 29-year-old southpaw allowed just one hit and one walk on the afternoon while racking up five strikeouts. He took over after José Ureña had faced the Mariners’ lineup one time through and absolutely dominated for the next 4 2/3 innings. Lauer got six swings and misses on 63 pitches on the afternoon, posting a solid CSW of 29 percent. He’ll probably function in a similar capacity his next time out against the Tigers in Toronto next weekend, making him an interesting streaming option in the deepest of mixed leagues and AL-only formats.

The 28-year-old backstop finally got the Snakes on the board with a run-scoring double off of Ben Casparius in the seventh inning, pulling them to within four runs at 5-1. That would be as close as they would get. On the season, he’s now slashing .205/.286/.341 with a homer and five RBI in his first 52 plate appearances.

The 27-year-old backstop hit a sacrifice fly off of Tyler Anderson in the fifth inning that tied the game at 2-2. He then plated a run with a sacrifice bunt during the O’s three-run uprising in the sixth inning. He’s just 1-for-9 (.111) since joining the Orioles at the end of April, but at least he now has a couple of RBI to his credit.

A nice send off for Bud Black, who was let go after the game. Goodman’s homer was his first since Apr. 28, and the triple was his first since 2023. The double, though, might have been the most interesting of his hits. His line drive on Wandy Peralta left the bat at 116.2 mph, a new career high for him by 1.5 mph. It seems like a good sign for his future. However, with six road games coming up, this isn’t the time to pick up Goodman in fantasy leagues.
