The positive news for fantasy managers is that both X-rays and an MRI didn’t reveal anything serious after Volpe suffered a left shoulder injury during Saturday’s showdown against the Rays. The 24-year-old is back at shortstop and hitting sixth on Monday night following a brief one-game absence. It’s a situation fantasy managers should continue to monitor, but it doesn’t seem like he’s going to miss any additional time.

Stroman has been on the shelf since mid-April due to left knee inflammation, which required a cortisone injection. The 34-year-old righty is likely a couple weeks away from a minor league rehab assignment, so fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until sometime in June.

Lombard earns the promotion to the upper minors after tearing the cover off the ball at the outset of the season for High-A Hudson Valley, batting .329/.495/.488 with 10 extra-base hits and 11 steals through 24 games. The 19-year-old top prospect has made tremendous strides since being selected 26th overall in the 2023 MLB Draft. He’s not quite an elite dynasty prospect yet for fantasy purposes, but he’s certainly on that trajectory, especially as he continues to improve at the plate.

Warren gave up seven hits, walked three and struck out eight. It was another uneven start for Warren, who hasn’t completed six innings in any start this season. While the eight strikeouts were a positive, Warren was fortunate to only allow five runs as there was traffic on the basepaths for much of his start. He also likely would’ve been removed from the game earlier, but the Yankees had just had a bullpen game on Saturday so they let him throw 102 pitches. Warren will take a 5.65 ERA into his start against the Athletics on the road next weekend, though he’s only worth considering in deeper formats.

Winn will get some extra time to rest and recover after making an early exit from the second game of Sunday’s doubleheader against the Mets with a mild left ankle sprain. The 23-year-old shortstop told reporters he’s aiming to return to Tuesday’s lineup after waking up feeling better than expected. It’ll be Jose Barrero at shortstop on Monday night in his absence.

Rocchio is down to .183/.258/.220 for the year, and his defense hasn’t graded out particularly well, either. The Guardians are going with Gabriel Arias at short and Daniel Schneeman at second again today. Rocchio has to be in significant danger of getting sent to Triple-A.

The 23-year-old shortstop sustained the injury as he tripped rounding third base in the third inning. No word yet on the severity of the injury — or how much time Winn may stand to miss. Expect the Cardinals to provide an update on his status after the game.
