The Yankees fell behind 3-2 in the top of the seventh tonight, only to rally for 10 in the bottom of the inning. Wells’ single off Adrian Morejon opened the scoring that inning and his slam off Wandy Peralta finished it. It was Wells’ first career grand slam and his first five-RBI game as a major leaguer. He also picked up his second career stolen base tonight.

All four of the runs Rodon allowed would come on the home run in Sacramento. He gave up a solo homer in the second innings to Luis Urías, then surrendered a three-run blast to Brent Rooker in the third. He settled in for three more scoreless innings, striking out ten batters on 20 whiffs for his first double-digit strikeout performance of the season. The 32-year-old left-hander will take a 3.29 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and a 67/20 K/BB ratio across 54 2/3 innings into a home start against the Mets on Friday.

Domínguez remains locked into the lower-third of New York’s lineup despite putting together a surreal three-homer explosion during Friday’s series opener in Sacramento. However, this decision might have more to do with the presence of lefty JP Sears on the mound for the Athletics than anything else. It’ll be veteran Paul Goldschmidt leading off with Trent Grisham hitting second. Aaron Judge will get a turn at DH with Ben Rice taking a spot on the bench to open Saturday afternoon’s matinee.

Caratini deserves better than being the backup to a quality catcher in Yainer Diaz, but not enough teams realized it when he was a free agent two winters ago. The Astros used both guys tonight, with Diaz going 2-for-4 with two RBI as a DH. Caratini is batting .255/.356/.431 in 59 plate appearances in his limited role.

The Red Sox are trying to ease Connor Wong back into action as he returns from a broken finger, but the truth is that Narváez deserves to be the team’s starting catcher right now. He’s the better defender of the two, and he’s done a nice job offensively in hitting .245/.304/.426 with four homers and 13 RBI in 102 plate appearances.

Langeliers knocked base hits in the third and fifth inning before stepping to the plate with two runners on in the seventh. He came through in a big spot, taking Fernando Cruz deep to center field for a three-run blast to put the A’s ahead. Langeliers then extended the lead with a two-run double in the ninth. The 27-year-old catcher is slashing .248/.308/.473 with eight homers and 22 RBI over 143 plate appearances. Langeliers has made tremendous strides in his contact skills, cutting his strikeout rate to an excellent 14.7 percent.
