Nimmo only got his first RBI in the sixth, when he hit a three-run homer. He launched a grand slam the next inning and then a two-run double in the eighth. He got to bat again versus Amed Rosario in the ninth, but Mark Vientos immediately preceded him with a three-run homer, and Nimmo harmlessly grounded out. As a result, Nimmo only tied the Mets record for RBI, which was set by Carlos Delgado against the Yankees in 2008. Nimmo’s previous high was five.

Canning gave up four hits and walked three, but he spread things around well enough to avoid giving up any runs. Although he’s completed six innings just once, Canning has gone 4-1 with a 2.61 ERA in his six starts. He’ll rate as a nice play again Saturday against the Cardinals.

Uréna, making his Mets debut, came into a 12-0 game in the seventh with the idea that he’d finish it, and he was allowed to do so even after giving up five runs in the eighth. It’s the 10th time since the save became an official statistic in 1969 that a pitcher has allowed at least five runs and earned a save. Cooper Criswell did so for Boston in an 18-7 game earlier this year.

The triple should have been a single, but Alex Call made a flailing dive at it and watched it roll by him. McNeil’s homer was more impressive, traveling a projected 420 feet to right-center. Barring a correction, that’s the farthest he’s hit a ball since 2019. He topped out at 402 feet last year and 400 feet in 2023.

Greene, 24, drove in three runs with the two homers. The first was a solo blast off Ronel Blanco, the second a two-run shot off Kaleb Ort that made the score 8-5 Astros in the eighth. Greene has gone through ups and downs already in his 2025 campaign, but this helped improve his line to .234/.280/.441 with six homers and 16 RBI through 28 games.

Altuve hit second behind Jeremy Peña again — with Peña going 2-for-4 and scoring a pair of runs in the contest — and it went well for the 34-year-old. He socked a two-run blast off Jack Flaherty that gave the Astros a 4-3 lead in the sixth, and he picked up his third RBI of the day with a fielder’s choice in the seventh. Altuve is now hitting .282/.316/.409 on the season, and while that’s a far cry from his best campaigns, it’s also far from unuseable as well.

Domínguez hasn’t exactly set the fantasy landscape ablaze so far, striking out 32 percent of the time in exactly 100 plate appearances through 25 games. He hasn’t been a complete non-factor since he’s contributed two homers, 12 RBI and three steals during that span. The 22-year-old top prospect isn’t going anywhere and an extended hot streak would certainly help flip the narrative on his early-season performance.
