Kelly has been hotter than the surface of the sun of late with Friday’s two-homer explosion raising his full-season OPS to a surreal 1.675 mark. The 30-year-old backstop has never showcased this level of elite offensive firepower previously, so we’re anticipating some regression. However, that doesn’t mean his transformation into a viable mixed-league catching option isn’t real. Kelly should be rostered in all fantasy formats by this point after hitting .419 with six homers and 18 RBI in just 11 contests. He’s not going to catch every single day for obvious workload reasons, but he’ll be an impactful fantasy contributor when he’s behind the plate for Chicago.

Hodge entered a tie game in the eighth inning to face the heart of the Mets’ order and immediately allowed a home run to Francisco Lindor. After Juan Soto lined out, Pete Alonso cracked a double, and Mark Vientos brought him in with a single, and then Hodge was removed from the game. Vientos would later come around to score himself, which raised Hodge’s ERA to 5.71 on the season. Perhaps more alarming is that his fastball velocity was down almost two mph. With Ryan Pressly struggling, this seemed to be the ideal time for Hodge to capitalize, but he just hasn’t been able to.

It was his 10th home run of the season and 28th RBI. However, he also struck out three times as pitchers continue to stop throwing him fastballs and instead try and get him to chase breaking balls outside of the zone. He did hit a Griffin Canning fastball out of the park, but also chased fastballs and a changeup out of the zone on his three strikeouts. The potential remains high for the 23-year-old, but he may need to learn to lay off some of the pitches outside of the zone a little more often.

Boyd didn’t walk a batter on the day and is now sporting a 2.78 ERA on the season. The left-hander ate the Mets up with his slider and changeup and posted a 30 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW on the day. He needs to be rostered in 100 percent of leagues for his start next week against the White Sox.

The 28-year-old backstop finally got the Snakes on the board with a run-scoring double off of Ben Casparius in the seventh inning, pulling them to within four runs at 5-1. That would be as close as they would get. On the season, he’s now slashing .205/.286/.341 with a homer and five RBI in his first 52 plate appearances.

The 27-year-old backstop hit a sacrifice fly off of Tyler Anderson in the fifth inning that tied the game at 2-2. He then plated a run with a sacrifice bunt during the O’s three-run uprising in the sixth inning. He’s just 1-for-9 (.111) since joining the Orioles at the end of April, but at least he now has a couple of RBI to his credit.

A nice send off for Bud Black, who was let go after the game. Goodman’s homer was his first since Apr. 28, and the triple was his first since 2023. The double, though, might have been the most interesting of his hits. His line drive on Wandy Peralta left the bat at 116.2 mph, a new career high for him by 1.5 mph. It seems like a good sign for his future. However, with six road games coming up, this isn’t the time to pick up Goodman in fantasy leagues.
