Clement needed that. The 29-year-old has been a regular starter at third base but has really struggled to start the year and is slashing just .194/.268/.250 on the season. He also now has one steal, but he will run if he can continue to get on base.

There simply isn’t a consistent everyday role for Roden at the highest level with Daulton Varsho, George Springer and Anthony Santander all healthy with bench players like Nathan Lukes and Myles Straw still hanging around. The reasons for why Arenado was removed from the lineup are unknown at this time, but it happened right before first pitch. The 34-year-old is on the bench with with Nolan Gorman taking his spot in the lineup. There should be an update on Arenado’s status soon.
