It’s unclear when exactly he sustained the injury or the severity of it. Given how tricky oblique injuries usually are though, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see Mitchell ultimately land on the injured list for at least a couple of weeks. Stay tuned, as the Brewers should have an update on his status after the game.

Priester allowed eight hits, walked three and struck out just two in his first bad start since joining the Brewers. He still has a solid 3.79 ERA after this one, but his 13/12 K/BB in 19 innings is discouraging. He should stay in the rotation and face the Cubs next time out, but if he struggles again, he could get bumped when Brandon Woodruff is activated.

Megill got just one out before surrendering the walkoff on a fastball. It’s the first homer he’s allowed this year. Although still very much the Brewers’ primary closer, Megill has just three save chances and two conversions to date. He’s allowed four runs in 7 1/3 innings over 10 appearances.

The homer was a two-run blast off Ryan Helsley to tie the game in the ninth before the Cardinals won it in the bottom of the inning. Chourio came into the day in an 8-for-46 slump that had dropped his OPS from .966 to .760. He’s been lacking in the plate discipline department this year, leaving him with a 29/2 K/BB in 132 plate appearances. Still, talent seems sure to win out here.

Eder will join Los Angeles’ bullpen mix ahead of Saturday’s contest against the Twins. The 26-year-old southpaw was acquired last month from the White Sox. He was a notable pitching prospect a couple years ago, but has struggled in the upper minors the last few seasons since coming back from Tommy John surgery back in 2021.

Fermin makes the jump directly to the majors, skipping Triple-A altogether, after posting a sparkling 1.13 ERA, 0.50 WHIP and 15/1 K/BB ratio across eight innings (six appearances) for Double-A Rocket City. This qualifies as aggressive, even by Angels standards.

Doyle is back patrolling center field and leading off on Saturday after missing Friday’s game for personal reasons. He shared on his personal Instagram account last weekend he and his wife are mourning the loss of their unborn baby. It’s completely understandable if he winds up requiring some additional time away from the team in the coming days to be with his wife and family.
