Williams allowed six hits, and he walked three while striking out just one. He needed 89 pitches to get through those four frames, and to say he wasn’t efficient is quite the understatement. He’ll get a chance to rebound next week and lower a 3.89 ERA against the Giants on Thursday in San Francisco.

The 24-year-old southpaw had been pitching for the Mississippi Mud Monsters in the independent Frontier League where he registered a 3.86 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and a 29/3 K/BB ratio across 16 1/3 innings in his nine appearances. He’ll add bullpen depth in the minor leagues for the Rockies.

Contreras doubled in a run in the fourth, and he was able to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead in the sixth with a sac fly. It’s been a disappointing season for Contreras even before you consider the lofty expectations, as he’s still slashing just .239/.346/.340. It’s reasonable — if not probable — that Contreras will pick things up over the second half of 2025.

Narváez was the hero in a game that included a shutout bid by Garrett Crochet and 450 foot home run by Aaron Judge in the ninth inning to break up said shutout bid. That’s baseball though. Narváez, the former Yankee, smoked a two-out, two-strike pitch from Tim Hill high off the Green Monster to plate the winning run. He’s been a pleasant surprise this season with six home runs and an .827 OPS so far.
