Wilson was bumped up to the leadoff spot on Saturday with Lawrence Butler getting a rare day off and extended his season-opening hitting streak to 15 consecutive games. The 23-year-old top prospect has been a revelation this season, but simply lacks the elite power/speed combo ceiling to overtake Butler for the leadoff role. It’s possible he’ll challenge him in the future. However, it’s not really much of a debate at this early stage of his career, especially considering how teams are now approaching the spot and prioritizing getting their most impactful hitters as many at-bats as possible.

No word yet on the severity of the injury, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the 35-year-old southpaw ultimately require a trip to the injured list. He had faced just one batter — throwing only three pitches in the eighth inning — before exiting. The A’s should have an update on his status on Monday.

He allowed nine hits, walked two and struck out two. The 11 hard-hit balls against Severino ranged from 100.9 mph to 110.0 mph. He dropped to 1-4 with a 4.70 ERA, and his strikeout rate currently stands at just 17.2%. He simply must miss more bats if he’s going to resemble a league-average starter.

It didn’t necessarily have anything to do with his exit, but Kurtz was checked on by the trainer today after jamming his glove hand into Orlando Cabrera’s body on a play at first base. His three at-bats before leaving produced two groundouts and a strikeout.

Betts put the exclamation point on the victory for the Dodgers with a first-pitch, 393-foot (101.8 mph EV) solo shot off of Jose Castillo in the ninth inning. With his three-hit attack, the dynamic 32-year-old shortstop is now slashing .272/.351/.435 with six homers, 24 RBI and three stolen bases on the season.

Edwards can be difficult to evaluate from a fantasy perspective. On one hand, he’s scored 18 runs and has 11 stolen bases this season, which is what his fantasy managers were looking for from him when they drafted him. He also has 11 RBI. On the other hand, he’s hitting just .259 with no power whatsoever. Edwards now has just one home run and a .066 ISO 139 career MLB games. Speed is certainly important in fantasy and Edwards could push for 50 steals this year, but his .328 average in 70 games last year looks like a fluke and he might just be a one or two category player this year.

Lindor homered off Porter Hodge to break a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning. It was his ninth home run and 26th RBI of the year. He has been well worth his late-first, early-second-round draft price so far this season.
