Winker was officially placed on the injured list ahead of Monday’s contest against the Diamondbacks and will likely be sidelined until mid-to-late June. The 31-year-old’s absence creates a void at DH against right-handed pitching. There’s an opportunity for youngsters Luisangel Acuña and Brett Baty to get increased opportunities in the coming weeks.

Minter was transferred to the 60-day injured list last week with a significant lat injury. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed on Monday that he’ll require a season-ending procedure. It’s a significant hit to New York’s left-handed relief depth, especially once the postseason rolls around.

Baty gets another shot with the Mets after Jesse Winker suffered an oblique strain during Sunday’s twin bill against the Cardinals. The 25-year-old former top prospect was shipped to the minors back on April 24 after hitting .204/.246/.352 with one homer and one steal in 19 games to open the year.

Winker’s absence frees up some additional at-bats at DH for the overabundance of talent on New York’s roster. The 31-year-old veteran suffered the oblique strain during Sunday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals and is facing a multi-week absence. No word yet on the severity of the strain, which will determine how much time he misses.

Yelich gave the Brew Crew a 3-0 lead with a two-run blast off Ronel Blanco. That homer and the steal later in the contest put him at six homers, seven steals and 25 RBI over 36 games. He’s also hitting just .210, but at least the counting stats haven’t been abhorrent for the former MVP.

Hays hit the injured list last Friday with a mild left hamstring strain. It sounds like there’s a decent chance he’s back with Cincinnati later this week without needing a minor league rehab assignment. The 29-year-old outfielder has gotten off to a torrid start in his Reds debut, hitting .365/.431/.712 with five homers, 13 RBI and one steal through 13 games.

Not great. Alvarez heads to the injured list after sitting out a pair of games over the weekend with a lingering right hand issue. Astros manager Joe Espada didn’t seem too concerned over the weekend, so this certainly qualifies as a mild surprise. No word yet on how much time he’s going to miss, but we’re not anticipating an extended absence. There should be some much-needed clarity on his status at some point this week after Alvarez undergoes further evaluation and imaging to determine the severity of the issue.
