Jorge Soler
LAA • RF • #
Jorge Soler was scratched from the Angels’ starting lineup on Friday night due to groin tightness.
The issue must not have been too serious though as Soler did appear in the game as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning where he drew a one-out walk against Yennier Cano. He’s considered day-to-day, but it wouldn’t be surprising in the slightest to see him return to the Angels’ starting lineup on Saturday.

Mike Trout

Mike Trout (knee) told reporters that he’s feeling good and could start running next week.
Trout has already begun hitting, which is obviously a positive sign. The 33-year-old doesn’t have a timetable for a return, and it seems likely that he’ll need at least a week or two more before he’s ready to hit in the middle of the Angels’ lineup.

Jorge Soler (groin) is not in the lineup Saturday against the Orioles.
Soler was scratched from the lineup Friday, and he’ll miss at least one more game. The hope is for Soler to return for the finale against Baltimore on Sunday, but no guarantees. Matthew Lugo is in left field with Taylor Ward the designated hitter.

Kyle Hendricks

Kyle Hendricks allowed three runs over five innings in a loss Friday to the Orioles.
A very Kyle Hendricks-like start from, well, Kyle Hendricks. He was able to strike out five, but he didn’t fool Baltimore hitters for most of the contest and gave up all three runs in the first two innings. It could have been worse, but it’s pretty clear there won’t be too many starts like the 7 2/3 innings of one-run baseball like he had the last time out against the Tigers. He shouldn’t be in fantasy lineups Wednesday for his scheduled bout against the Padres.

Kerry Carpenter finished 3-for-4 with a homer and a triple versus the Rangers on Saturday.
Carpenter is 12-for-33 with two homers and seven RBI through eight games this month, putting him at .290/.309/.550 in 137 plate appearances for the year. It’s bizarre that he’s walked just twice this season, but it’s hard to be bothered by it when he’s batting .290.
Aaron Judge

Aaron Judge went 2-for-5 with two solo homers and three RBI against the Athletics on Saturday.
Judge enjoyed the warm Sacramento weather in Sutter Health Park as he slugged two solo homers. He took JP Sears deep to lead off the fourth inning, then went yard off Justin Sterner to start the sixth. Judge later drove in a third run on a groundout in the ninth. The 33-year-old superstar is up to a league-leading 14 homers with 37 RBI while slashing .396/.486/.772 across 175 plate appearances. Following Saturday’s contest, Judge is leading baseball in homers, batting average, and RBI.

Tyler O’Neill is not in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game against the Angels.
The Orioles just activated O’Neill off the 10-day injured list Friday, and they’ll likely give him a day or two off to make sure his neck injury doesn’t flare up. Heston Kjerstad and Ryan O’Hearn will be the corner outfielders for Saturday’s bout against the Halos.
