Josh Naylor
ARI • 1B • #
Josh Naylor hit a solo homer in a win over the Marlins on Thursday.
Naylor continues to rake in his first season with Arizona, and the homer is the fourth for the burly first baseman in 18 games. The 27-year-old will continue to hit in the middle of the Arizona order, and while a .324/.462/.577 slash isn’t sustainable, he’s obviously more than competent enough to be a solid fantasy option in 2025 and beyond.

José Herrera

Jose Herrera went 1-for-3 with a double and drove in the Diamondbacks’ lone run in Sunday’s loss to the Dodgers.
The 28-year-old backstop finally got the Snakes on the board with a run-scoring double off of Ben Casparius in the seventh inning, pulling them to within four runs at 5-1. That would be as close as they would get. On the season, he’s now slashing .205/.286/.341 with a homer and five RBI in his first 52 plate appearances.
Zac Gallen

Zac Gallen wasn’t at his best in Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Dodgers, surrendering four runs on 10 hits over his 5 2/3 innings of work.
The 29-year-old hurler also walked a pair of batters while striking out five on the day. He had allowed just one run — a first-inning RBI double to Freddie Freeman — through the first four innings, but the Dodgers tacked on two in the fifth and another in the sixth to ruin his overall line. Gallen got 15 swings and misses on 97 offerings on the day — seven on his knuckle curve — while posting a CSW of 30 percent. Gallen will carry an underwhelming 4.59 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 54/23 K/BB ratio (51 innings) into a premium matchup against the Rockies on Saturday.
Justin Martinez

Justin Martinez (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Sunday.
Martinez was shut down earlier this month with shoulder inflammation and all indications are that he’s looked sharp since resuming a throwing program. There isn’t a clear timetable for his return at the moment, but all signs point to him returning to Arizona’s high-leverage mix by the end of May.

Freddie Freeman went 4-for-4 with a homer, two doubles and three RBI on Sunday, leading the Dodgers to an 8-1 victory over the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
The 35-year-old slugger opened the scoring in the contest with a run-scoring double off of Zac Gallen in the opening inning. He tacked on a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning and then clobbered a 405-foot solo shot off of Joe Mantiply in the seventh inning that extended the Dodgers’ advantage to 5-0. He has been absolutely sizzling at the dish this season, slashing .376/.437/.734 with nine homers and 33 RBI. The only thing that he hasn’t done from a fantasy perspective is run, with zero stolen bases in one attempt.
Nick Kurtz

Nick Kurtz went 0-for-3 before coming out of Sunday’s blowout for a pinch-hitter in the ninth.
It didn’t necessarily have anything to do with his exit, but Kurtz was checked on by the trainer today after jamming his glove hand into Orlando Cabrera’s body on a play at first base. His three at-bats before leaving produced two groundouts and a strikeout.
Christian Walker

Christian Walker went 2-for-2 with a walk, a sacrifice fly, a run scored and three RBI against the Reds on Sunday.
Walker is quietly 20-for-65 (.307) with two home runs and 11 RBI over his last 17 games. Of course, he was hitting .156 with two home runs and four RBI in the first 21 games of the season. Still, it appears the Astros’ big free agent acquisition is finally starting to figure it out at the plate after an injury derailed his spring training and slow start to the season.
