Naylor led off the sixth inning with a single off of Freddy Peralta and ultimately came around to score the tying run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Tim Tawa. Naylor then broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring single up the middle in the seventh inning. He also swiped third base later in the frame but wound up stranded there. With his two-hit afternoon, the 27-year-old first baseman is now slashing .322/.397/.475 with a homer, 10 RBI and four stolen bases in his first season with the D’Backs.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters Burnes made it through Wednesday’s session without any issues related to his right shoulder and remains on track to take the ball on Saturday against the Dodgers. Carroll was one of the few bright spots for the Diamondbacks on Wednesday afternoon as he reached base safely in all four of his plate appearances out of the leadoff spot, while also slugging his 11th round-tripper of the season in the eighth inning against Mets reliever Max Kranick. He’s gone deep twice in his last three games. The 24-year-old fantasy superstar has put together an MVP-caliber start to the season, hitting .297/.370/.613 with 30 runs scored, 11 homers, 28 RBI and five steals through 37 games.

Gonzalez was lifted from Wednesday’s game at Fenway Park following a nasty collision with Rangers first baseman Josh Smith while trying to beat out an infield single in the sixth inning. The positive news here is that both players were able to get back on their feet with Smith staying in the contest. Gonzalez, who was replaced by Abraham Toro at the cold corner to open the seventh inning, will undergo further evaluation and there should be an update on his status following the game.
