The Diamondbacks entered the ninth inning trailing 4-0, but they were able to get to Joel Payamps and Trevor Megill for five runs in the bottom of the frame to get the win. Gurriel has now driven in eight runs, but has scuffled to a slash of .154/.179/.308 in 2025. He’ll assuredly get that line up in the coming days/weeks.

Thompson came into a chaotic situation after Justin Martinez allowed a solo home run and walked back-to-back batters before being pulled without recording an out. He threw just five of his 14 pitches for strikes and his average fastball velocity was down from 100 mph to 96 mph. While that’s all very troubling, Thompson got the call to nail down the save and got some clutch outs. Him, Kevin Ginkel, and Shelby Miller would be in the mix for save chances if something is wrong with Martinez.

The Diamondbacks were mostly stifled by Brandon Waddell and the Mets’ bullpen in this one as Gurriel was the only member of their lineup to tally multiple hits. His ninth inning double set Arizona up to score some valuable insurance runs that proved vital after the Mets rallied in response, but fell just short. Still, Gurriel and his .181 batting average has put him in danger of losing his starting job.

Kepler gave Philadelphia a lead of 6-2 with a solo homer off an ineffective Jake Irvin. The 32-year-old has been solid — if unspectacular — in his first full month with the Phillies, but it’s nice to see some power showing up with homers in two of the last four games after just one roundtripper in the month of April prior to that run.

Arozarena had gone six straight games without an RBI before driving in himself in the second inning today. He’s hitting .208/.359/.406 with eight steals in eight attempts. Batting average figures to remain an issue while he continues to play half of his games in Seattle, but everything else is good.

When Greene gets hot, he can stay that way for a while. He went 7-for-12 with two homers in the series against Houston, pushing his average up to .261, and now he could feast on Angels pitching the next four days.
