It’s a significant loss for the Marlins as Conine is facing an extended absence and will be sidelined until at least late June, even in a best-case scenario. He’s slated to undergo a battery of additional tests and imaging to determine the extent of the damage after suffering the injury during Saturday’s contest against the Phillies on a slide into second base.

Edwards can be difficult to evaluate from a fantasy perspective. On one hand, he’s scored 18 runs and has 11 stolen bases this season, which is what his fantasy managers were looking for from him when they drafted him. He also has 11 RBI. On the other hand, he’s hitting just .259 with no power whatsoever. Edwards now has just one home run and a .066 ISO 139 career MLB games. Speed is certainly important in fantasy and Edwards could push for 50 steals this year, but his .328 average in 70 games last year looks like a fluke and he might just be a one or two category player this year.

Alcantara gave up seven hits, walked three and struck out eight. Despite taking his fifth loss in a row, it was a solid outing for Alcantara, who got burned by allowing a three-run home run to Tim Elko. The 29-year-old right-hander’s 8.10 ERA this season is the stuff of nightmares, but his 4.50 xFIP leads us to believe it’s not over for the former Cy Young award winner. Alcantara just has to pitch well enough for a contender to trade for him before the deadline. Alcantara is set to face the Rays at home next weekend and he’s worth considering putting in lineups in that matchup.

Wagaman’s big hit came an inning after Kyle Stowers tied the game with a solo homer. Wagaman came into the night in an 8-for-46 slump that had dropped his OPS to .648. Still, he built up enough goodwill early that he’s gotten a chance to ride it out. He’s not a mixed-league guy, but he’ll probably rate as one of the Marlins’ better hitters as long as he continues to play.

Ward atoned for his defensive miscue in the top half of the first inning by smacking a run-scoring double off of Zach Eflin that tied the game at 1-1. He then came around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Logan O’Hoppe. Even with the two-hit attack though, Ward is slashing a miserable .182/.226/.385 on the season to go with eight homers and 17 RBI.

The 35-year-old right-hander threw nine pitches in the outing, all of them strikes, while allowing a pair of hits and striking out a batter. That was his third appearances on his minor league rehab assignment. There has been no clear timeline on how many outings he’ll require before he’s ready to join the Orioles’ bullpen, but it sounds like he’s getting close.

Happ played catch and was able to take swings prior to sitting out Sunday’s game against the Mets, so it appears there’s a chance he’ll be ready for Monday’s series opener against the Marlins. Emerging fantasy star Pete Crow-Armstrong went 1-for-4 with solo homer on Sunday in his second straight appearance in the leadoff spot with Happ out of the lineup.
