Toglia’s streak of 106 consecutive starts at first base is over. The 26-year-old all-or-nothing slugger has gotten off to a brutal start at the dish, hitting .167 (10-for-60) with zero homers and one steal through 16 games. He’s struck out in a staggering 46 percent of his 63 plate appearances so far. It’ll be Kyle Farmer at first base on Tuesday night.

A nice send off for Bud Black, who was let go after the game. Goodman’s homer was his first since Apr. 28, and the triple was his first since 2023. The double, though, might have been the most interesting of his hits. His line drive on Wandy Peralta left the bat at 116.2 mph, a new career high for him by 1.5 mph. It seems like a good sign for his future. However, with six road games coming up, this isn’t the time to pick up Goodman in fantasy leagues.

Márquez was 0-6 with a 9.90 ERA before turning back the clock today. He finished with just two strikeouts and five whiffs, but the Padres managed only three hits off him. It’s probably not a performance he’s going to repeat going forward. He’ll face the Diamondbacks next.

The Rockies are embarrassing. Blalock was absolutely shelled from the start, as he gave up five runs in the first inning. He allowed one each in the second and third and then was charged for another five in the fourth. That gives Blalock a deserved 12.94 ERA, and the Diamondbacks should be licking their chops for when they face him next weekend.

The 35-year-old slugger opened the scoring in the contest with a run-scoring double off of Zac Gallen in the opening inning. He tacked on a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning and then clobbered a 405-foot solo shot off of Joe Mantiply in the seventh inning that extended the Dodgers’ advantage to 5-0. He has been absolutely sizzling at the dish this season, slashing .376/.437/.734 with nine homers and 33 RBI. The only thing that he hasn’t done from a fantasy perspective is run, with zero stolen bases in one attempt.

It didn’t necessarily have anything to do with his exit, but Kurtz was checked on by the trainer today after jamming his glove hand into Orlando Cabrera’s body on a play at first base. His three at-bats before leaving produced two groundouts and a strikeout.

Walker is quietly 20-for-65 (.307) with two home runs and 11 RBI over his last 17 games. Of course, he was hitting .156 with two home runs and four RBI in the first 21 games of the season. Still, it appears the Astros’ big free agent acquisition is finally starting to figure it out at the plate after an injury derailed his spring training and slow start to the season.
