Trout told reporters following Wednesday’s contest that he’s already feeling better and expressed optimism that he’ll be ready for Thursday’s series opener against the Tigers. He also noted that he’s already undergone some preliminary testing, which didn’t reveal anything serious. It’s a significant concern for fantasy managers since Trout missed most of last season with a torn meniscus in his left knee. It sounds like his early exit was out of an abundance of caution and he’s not dealing with anything serious. He should be considered day-to-day for now.

The one-run lead Anderson departed with quickly turned into a four-run deficit in the seventh, and the Angels lost one of his starts for the first time in six turns this year. Anderson is 2-0 with a 2.67 ERA, though his peripherals aren’t at all impressive. He’ll face the Blue Jays next.

At least as far as Statcast is concerned, this might have been the single unluckiest outing by a pitcher this season. The hits off Detmers left bats at 84, 46 (a bunt single), 68, 108 and 66 mph. Julio Rodríguez delivered the one shot in there with a .760 xBA. The other four came in at .240, .260, .180 and .040. This actually might be a good thing for Detmers; the better he fares as a reliever, the more likely it is that the Angels will lock him into that role for the long haul. This took his ERA from 2.57 to 5.79.

Trout was replaced by Jo Adell in right field a couple frames after hustling down the line on a second-inning ground out. He didn’t appear to be in obvious discomfort, but it’s possible he suffered some sort of injury on the play. The 33-year-old generational talent has been snake-bitten by injuries the last few years, but has played all 29 games this season. Hopefully he’s not dealing with anything knee-related, which would be extremely concerning. There should be an update on his status shortly.

With the score tied at 1-1, Rooker came to the plat against Luke Jackson and clobbered a pitch from Jackson over the left-field fence to give the A’s a 3-1 lead. The Athletics would score four more on a grand slam by Lawrence Butler in the inning to turn a nailbiter into a blowout. Rooker has gone deep eight times in 30 games — putting him around a 40-homer pace — and remains one of the most underrated offensive weapons in the sport of baseball.

Santander came through with the biggest moment of his Blue Jays debut, delivering a clutch seventh-inning homer against Red Sox reliever Garrett Whitlock to help Toronto erase an early six-run deficit. It was his fourth big fly of the season. It wound up being his lone hit in five at-bats, but it made a significant impact in a comeback victory.

McCutchen got the big hit in this one when he squeaked a ground ball up the middle that Dansby Swanson inadvertently kicked into shallow center field. That mishap allowed both Bryan Reynolds and Isiah Kiner-Falefa to score and give the Pirates a late lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. While McCutchen began the season in more of a part-time role, he’s started in 12 of Pittsburgh’s last 13 games and has slugged his way to an .826 OPS overall.
