That’d be good enough for a win most days, but not with the Braves being limited to one run today. Sale dropped to 1-3 with a 5.84 ERA. The 10-strikeout game was his first in 2025 and 88th of his career. He’s slated to face the Reds next time out.

This appears to just be a day of rest for Verdugo. He’ll get a break against Colorado with Eddie Rosario starting in left field. Michael Harris II moves up to the leadoff spot in Verdugo’s absence.

Harris broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run double off Ryan Feltner. He’s up to 15 RBI on the season, and he’s now stolen six bases over Atlanta’s first 28 games. Harris hasn’t been great to begin 2025, but the hits are starting to fall again for the 24-year-old. He should be fine.

The Mets called on Waddell for the spot-appearance as they’re in the midst of a 26 games in 27 days stretch and he performed as well as anyone could have hoped. He followed opener Huascar Brazobán the funky, left-handed Waddell was lethal over his 60-pitch outing. He retired the final eight batters he faced and forced a swing-and-miss with all five of his pitches. Those five pitches all got some real use too, as he threw each at least 12% of the time and he looked passable as a spot-starter.

Rivas figures to be a lineup fixture in Seattle for the near future. He’s yet to pick up an extra-base hit, but he’s 11-for-30 with nine walks, giving him a .513 OBP. He’s also 3-for-3 stealing bases.
