Hinds gave the Reds a 4-2 lead with his two-run homer in the ninth off Raisel Iglesias. It’s the first homer since being promoted back to Cincinnati on Wednesday, and while his other skills are a question mark, there’s no denying he offers pop in his bat while playing in a hitter-friendly home park.

Ashcraft was tasked with holding a two-run lead in the ninth, and the 27-year-old wasn’t up to said task. He allowed a sac fly and then an RBI single to blow his chance for his first save of 2025. The Reds will likely turn back to Emilio Pagan in the next chance, as Pagan was unavailable after working the last two contests.

Lodolo allowed five hits and didn’t issue a walk. He gave up sac fly in the first and a run-scoring triple to Michael Harris II, but outside of that it was smooth sailing for the southpaw. It’s a nice bounceback from Saturday’s struggles against the Nats (5 1/3 innings, 10 hits, six earned runs), and more in line with how he’s pitched for the majority of the 2025 campaign. Lodolo has a great chance of lowering his already-solid 3.23 ERA against the White Sox next week.

Francona interestingly noted that the team won’t make a roster move prior to Thursday’s game against the Braves, saying that they’re still talking through some things. It would be very surprising if he doesn’t land on the injured list. The alternative would be opting to play short-handed for at least a week or two while they wait on Greene to return. The more likely scenario would be for Greene to land on the injured list on Friday and stay there for close to a minimum stint.

Soler also singled and walked, but the big blow was obviously the bases-clearing double that turned a 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 lead off Jeff Hoffman. That gives the veteran slugger eight doubles on the season to go with 16 RBI. Soler has not been spectacular with the bat over the first 35 games of the season and had just two hits coming into May before Wednesday’s game, but the 33-year-old is always capable of fireworks, even if they are often followed by long stretches of disappointment.

Not only was Abreu productive, but he was also clutch. His first long ball tied this game at two. Then, his run-scoring double tied it at three and nearly gave his Red Sox the lead before Kristian Campbell was thrown out at home. His eighth inning home run was less dramatic, just adding insurance to the lead. A funny note though, this was the third multi-homer game of Abreu’s career and all three have come against the Rangers. Nevertheless, his strong start has blended nicely into a tremendous season and the Red Sox would be hard-pressed to take his .980 OPS out of the lineup any time soon.
