McMahon had a seven-game hitting streak going when he arrived in San Diego, but he just went 0-for-11 versus the Padres, leaving him at .236/.295/.382 through 15 games. He’s fanned in 20 of his 61 plate appearances. One can’t help but think about what kind of return the Rockies might have gotten for him last summer and how much less trade value he has now.

Veen is now hitting .361 with two home runs, one steal, and a 1.051 OPS in 61 at-bats at Triple-A this season. At this point, it seems like the Rockies just need to let the 23-year-old figure it out at the MLB level, but it’s the Rockies, so they probably won’t.

Arenado was scratched mere moments before the first pitch of Wednesday’s game. The 34-year-old will likely miss a game or two at least, but his status for the weekend will be determined over the coming days. Nolan Gorman will likely get the starts at third as long as Arenado can’t play.

The reasons for why Arenado was removed from the lineup are unknown at this time, but it happened right before first pitch. The 34-year-old is on the bench with with Nolan Gorman taking his spot in the lineup. There should be an update on Arenado’s status soon.
