It’s unclear whether Hernández’s removal is injury-related. The 32-year-old veteran outfield didn’t appear to suffer anything apparent before being replaced by Chris Taylor in right field to open the fourth inning. There should be an update on his status shortly.

It’s an encouraging update after Phillips hit the injured list on Wednesday afternoon for precautionary reasons with forearm discomfort. Roberts added that the 30-year-old high leverage staple won’t need to undergo an MRI and is likely to return when first eligible in roughly two weeks.

Freeman has owned the Marlins dating back to his days as Atlanta’s primary offensive catalyst and the phenomenon continued during Wednesday’s series finale when he broke a scoreless stalemate with a sixth-inning RBI single before scalding a bases-clearing, three-run triple in the seventh inning to break the contest wide open. He finished the three-game series with a whopping eight RBI and the Marlins are sure glad to see him leaving loanDepot park.

The four-inning save is a scorekeeping dinosaur that’s rarer than a fish on land. Sauer accomplished the feat in his return to the majors, protecting a one touchdown lead against the Marlins to net his first-ever save. He’ll probably wind up being shipped back to the minors to bring up a fresh arm, but he certainly came through for the Dodgers in this one by gobbling up some much-needed frames.

Not only was Abreu productive, but he was also clutch. His first long ball tied this game at two. Then, his run-scoring double tied it at three and nearly gave his Red Sox the lead before Kristian Campbell was thrown out at home. His eighth inning home run was less dramatic, just adding insurance to the lead. A funny note though, this was the third multi-homer game of Abreu’s career and all three have come against the Rangers. Nevertheless, his strong start has blended nicely into a tremendous season and the Red Sox would be hard-pressed to take his .980 OPS out of the lineup any time soon.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters he’s hopeful O’Neill will return for this weekend’s series against the Angels out in Los Angeles. The 29-year-old slugging outfielder, who has been out since late April with neck inflammation, went 2-for-6 in a pair of rehab contests.

Butler had led off in 33 of his 34 starts prior to today. Moving Jacob Wilson up to that spot made sense, but it was jarring to see Butler all the way down to sixth versus a right-hander; there wasn’t any reason for him to be hitting behind Miguel Andujar or JJ Bleday. We wouldn’t expect Butler to hit so low for very long.
