They had only half as many as the Orioles, but the Twins made their hits count, getting a solo homer from Trevor Larnach in the sixth. They then strung a double and a single after a pair of walks got things going during their three-run eighth inning. France went 6-for-11 in the three games against the Orioles after going hitless in the previous series in Boston. He’s batting .277/.346/.401 with three homers and 21 RBI through 38 games.

Ober gave up eight hits, but he stranded runners on base in all five innings today, limiting the damage. Ober learned last night that he’d be moved up to start on four days’ rest with Joe Ryan being scratched due to illness. He’s due to get an extra off day next time through before a midweek rematch with the Orioles.

Someday no one will remember that Rocco Baldelli seemed to want Griffin Jax to be the Twins’ primary closer this year. Duran has allowed two runs in 17 1/3 innings, and he’s collected four saves in the last week after finishing with just two in April.

Guerrero also drew a walk. It gives the first baseman multiple hits in back-to-back games, and it’s the third time in May that he’s reached that mark. That’s helped raise his average from .268 to .295, and the only thing fantasy managers can be disappointed with is his .432 slugging percentage. That number should continue to climb as the season unfolds, but Vladdy Jr. has had some inconsistent seasons when it comes to power production.

Torkelson smacked a two-out RBI single off of Kyle Freeland in the opening inning that extended the Tigers’ early lead to 2-0. He then got the Rockies’ left-hander for a two-out two-run double the following inning that made it a 7-0 ballgame. With his two-hit attack, the 25-year-old slugger is now slashing .241/.348/.541 with 10 homers and 31 RBI on the season.

Another reason to think that Coby Mayo’s stay with the Orioles will be short. Rivera was quite fortunate today, picking up his hits on balls in play with xBAs of .330, .260 and .140 (he struck out in his other at-bat). Mayo was used as a DH with Rivera at third and hit balls 109.3 and 106.5 mph, but he had only one single to show for it.
