Stewart has been dealing with right knee inflammation for a while now, including during Saturday’s loss to the Knicks in the series opener. While “Beef Stew” played for 19 minutes, he appeared to struggle with his movements and was not as impactful as he could have been. If Stewart cannot play on Monday, Paul Reed would likely move into the rotation; however, he is not as impactful, especially defensively.

Beasley provided a spark in the first half as he came off the bench and made six threes. Five of his threes came in the second quarter, which the Pistons won by 16. Beasley’s biggest shot was a buzzer-beater before the end of the first half, which gave the Pistons as two-point lead. With the Pistons down three at the end of the fourth quarter, Beasley couldn’t corral a pass from Cade Cunningham, resulting in a turnover and sealing the win for the Knicks. The 28-year-old shooting guard is set to hit free agency this offseason, but Beasley has expressed interest in staying with the Pistons and an agreement on a contract that makes sense for both sides wouldn’t be surprising.

While Cunningham led the Pistons in scoring with 23 points, he didn’t have his best game offensively in what was a must-win game for the Pistons. He was more successful on drives to the basket, while his three-point shooting left much to be desired. Only Malik Beasley had more than one three-pointer for Detroit, with Cunningham missing all eight of his three-point attempts. It was a frustrating end to what was ultimately an inspiring season from both Cunningham and the Pistons as a team.

Stewart appeared at Pistons shootaround Thursday afternoon, his first basketball activity since leaving Game 1 against the Knicks with a knee injury. Still, the 23-year-old center isn’t available for Game 6 as he’s set to miss his fifth game in a row. The Pistons are in a must-win situation Thursday and will have to roll with Paul Reed again as the backup center to Jalen Duren.

After dealing with foul trouble in the first half, Randle came up big after the break to send the Timberwolves to the second round of the playoffs. He had an excellent series, averaging 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.2 triples to help guide Minnesota to a gentlemen’s sweep. If Randle continues to produce at this level, the Timberwolves will be difficult to beat. They’ll await the winner of the Rockets-Warriors series in round two.

Porzingis got into foul trouble in Game 5, picking up three fouls during the first half. And for the second straight game, he was brought off the bench to begin the third quarter. Payton Pritchard (10/3/1 with two three-pointers in 25 minutes) started the third as the Celtics went small. Porzingis played 22 and 21 minutes in the final two games of this series, so the time off before the start of the second round may be beneficial to the Celtics center. Next up for Boston is either New York or Detroit.

Porzingis bounced back from a low-scoring Game 3 with his second double-digit outing of the series. The performance included two three-pointers, which were the first of the opening round for the ninth-year veteran center. With Porzingis finding his touch from beyond the arc, perhaps he’ll sustain his rhythm in Tuesday’s Game 5 in Boston, where the Celtics will look to close out the series.
