Jones returns to the lineup following a two-game absence due to back spasms. The 24-year-old slugger has been on an other-worldly power surge of late at the Triple-A level with 13 home runs in just 19 games since being promoted back in late June. There’s a chance the Yankees bring him up at some point in late August since it wouldn’t impact his rookie eligibility status for next year.

Back when it was still a close game, Urías had a misplay in the third that led to a run, though since it was ruled a single and an error, the run was still earned. He more than made up for it later, of course, homering in the sixth and seventh innings as the Orioles turned this one into a laugher. It was his second career two-homer game. The other came against the Rays in 2022.

Morton allowed eight hits, walked three and struck out only two today, but after giving up three runs between the third and fourth, he managed to strand multiple runners in both the fifth and sixth. The win makes him 7-8 with a 5.42 ERA, though he’s been considerably better than that lately. Expectations are that this was his last start for the Orioles, but if not, he’ll get the Phillies next week.

Even Henderson’s non-hit today was a 108.9 mph lineout. We may be about to witness the first real hot streak of the season from one of baseball’s best players.

Treating every day like it’s Opening Day is O’Neill’s new philosophy. He’s homered in four straight games after totaling just three homers in his first 34 games of an injury-plagued season.

The first of those doubles looked for all the world to be a homer leading off the game, but it was shown to have bounced off the very top of the wall and back into play. It’s Westburg’s fourth career four-hit game and first ever with four runs scored.

Loperfido finished the game despite hurting his left hand while being thrown out at home in the fourth. It later appeared to be a factor when he appeared to make a great sliding catch in left field but just couldn’t squeeze his glove tight enough to hold on to the ball. Nevertheless, he went on to homer in the eighth inning anyway.

It’s a positive update a couple days after Kirk landed on the injured list over the weekend with a concussion. The 26-year-old All-Star backstop doesn’t have a definitive return timetable yet, but it sounds like there’s optimism he’ll be back relatively quickly.

Cobb has been out all season battling lingering issues in both of his hips. The 37-year-old veteran’s odds of making it to Detroit seem a bit low at the moment, but he’s got a shot to contribute at some point by late August or early September, if he manages to avoid any further setbacks.

With Stanton getting the night off, Yankees manager Aaron Boone will give Ben Rice a look against Rays righty Joe Boyle. Stanton has recently begun outfield work as the team prepares for the possibility that Aaron Judge (elbow) may need to DH exclusively once activated from the injured list.

It’s a rare off day for Martínez, who has made 21 consecutive starts for Cleveland dating back to July 4. The 23-year-old has hit a minor speed bump recently, hitting .222 (6-for-27) with one RBI over his past seven games. It’ll be Daniel Schneeman taking over in center field and batting second on Tuesday night in his absence.

With three infielders on the IL and another hurting in Tommy Edman, the Dodgers are calling on one of their best prospects in Freeland, who was hitting .253/.377/.421 with 12 homers and 17 steals as a 23-year-old in Triple-A. Primarily a shortstop throughout his career, he’s been used much more at third base this month, and he’ll probably get the chance to make several starts at the position before Max Muncy returns. It’s unlikely that he’ll have any lasting fantasy value in this initial major league stint, but stranger things have happened.

Bad timing for Kim, what with Max Muncy and Enrique Hernández both on the IL and Tommy Edman banged up. He already missed Sunday’s game with the problem, but he was able to play Monday. Alex Freeland is being called up to fill in for him.

Great news for the Diamondbacks, who would have missed out on what figures to be a nice haul if Suárez had suffered a break when he was hit by a Will Vest pitch last night. Blaze Alexander is starting at third base in Suárez’s place tonight.

Since it’s the result of TJ Friedl going on the paternity list, this will probably be a brief stay for Hinds, who is 5-for-42 with a 20/1 K/BB in the majors this season. He’s come in at .302/.381/.578 in Triple-A.

A little extra catching depth. Tromp has appeared in two games for the Braves and six for the Orioles this season, going 3-for-21 with a homer. He’s a career .221/.230/.390 hitter in 178 plate appearances.

Brought in to finish off a four-run lead last night, Yoho, who just called up before the game, walked two of the four batters he faced and was pulled in favor of Trevor Megill, who finished the job for a save. He’ll head back to Triple-A having walked nine in 7 2/3 innings in the majors this season.

Eugenio Suárez is the Mariners’ preferred target, but the competition there is strong, and Castro would be a more flexible fallback option for a team with question marks at both second and third. The Mariners could also try to pull off a bigger deal with either jhoan Duran or Griffin Jax involved.

Suárez was hit by a pitch on Monday, and we assume that’s the reason for his absence, though it’s also possible it’s because a trade is in the works. X-rays came back negative, so it shouldn’t get in the way of a trade or keep him out of the lineup for long.

Through no fault of his own, Robert Garcia’s stint as the Rangers’ primary closer seems likely to come to an end later this week. The left-hander is 8-for-10 saving games as a closer this year and also has 11 holds while being more frequently used as a setup man early on.

Rodriguez was shutdown yet again in his rehab last week and was sent from imaging to determine the extent of the damage in his elbow. While there have been no further updates from the Orioles the fact that he is now seeking multiple opinion on that imaging is not good news. If he were to have to undergo surgery, it would likely put the entirety of his 2026 season in jeopardy considering how late in the year it is.

That will conveniently coincide with when Ryan O’Hearn likely gets traded to another team. Mountcastle has gone 6-for-12 with a home run and three RBI on his rehab assignment and could return to an everyday role when he’s back for the series against the Phillies next week. His playing time likely depends on whether or not the Orioles want Coby Mayo to be their regular first baseman for the final two months of the year.
