Kirk came off the bench with the bases loaded, and he was credited with two RBI on his single while a third run scored on an error by Steven Kwan. Kirk is now slashing an excellent .313/.358/.433, and if not for the remarkable season from Cal Raleigh in Seattle, you could put him in the conversation for best fantasy catcher in the American League.

Some days you’re allowed to intentionally throw at hitters and some days you’re not. Fortunately for Gausman and the Blue Jays, no ejection came of Gausman’s obvious targeting of José Ramírez to begin the fourth today. That followed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. getting hit in the back arm by a 2-2 sinker in the third. Both hitters were forced from the game afterwards. At least Gausman didn’t gear up for the Ramírez pitch; it checked in at 95.0 mph. A couple of batters later, he actually hit 98.4 mph on a heater to Lane Thomas; which was four mph harder than his season average. Gausman wound up with 15 whiffs and six strikeouts today. The victory makes him 6-6 with a 4.21 ERA ahead of a showdown with the Yankees next week.

The Jays had Bo Bichette DHing today and Ernie Clement playing short, so their options were limited after Guerrero exited. Giménez, who was primarily a shortstop in the minors, had played second base exclusively since starting 13 games at short for the Guardians in 2022. He finished today’s game against his old team 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Lukes poked a two-run single in the third to give the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead, and that was all the offense Kevin Gausman was going to need Thursday. The 30-year-old outfielder has been much more valuable to Toronto than fantasy managers, as he’s still slashing .259/.354/.357 with that single and a walk. The world needs fourth outfielders, too.

The team had Monday off, so this means Goodman’s started just twice in five days, which is kind of curious. The Rockies were often DHing him when he wasn’t catching, and he started 39 straight games from Apr. 13 through May 25.

It’s just a routine day off for the veteran, who is hitting .288 in 18 games in June with 11 runs scored, six RBI and one steal. Realmuto is likely to finish with around 10 home runs and 10 steals on the season, so he no longer packs the punch that he used to in fantasy leagues, but his prominent role on a good team keeps him in the mix in two-catcher leagues. Rafael Marchan will start in his place.

Caratini clobbered a homer in the eighth inning off Matt Strahm to extend the Houston lead to 2-0. It’s the sixth homer of the season for the 31-year-old, and half of those have come in the month of June. Caratini has hit a respectable .251/.314/.401 in 2025 while driving in 18 runs over 167 at-bats.
