There’s little incentive for the Diamondbacks to take any chances with next week’s extended All-Star break on the horizon. It’ll be Jake McCarthy taking over in center field and Randal Grichuk entering the lineup at DH on Tuesday night against the Padres.

Saalfrank joins Arizona’s relief mix ahead og Wednesday’s showdown against the Padres. The 27-year-old lefty missed nearly all of last year, and a portion of the current season, serving a one-year suspension for violating the league’s gambling policy. He’ll likely operate in low-leverage spots initially for the Diamondbacks.

The Guardians hit Astros’ ace Hunter Brown hard in this one, storming out to a 6-1 advantage through their first four innings. They gave that lead away though by the ninth and went to extra innings with the score tied at 6-6. That’s where Martinez victimized Astros’ closer Josh Hader for his 334-foot go-ahead blast that put the Guardians on top to stay. Martinez finished the night 1-for-4 plus a walk and is now hitting .238/.264/.371 with six homers and 30 RBI on the season.
