Abbott’s success this season is largely a product of his .202 average against and .241 BABIP, but his luck changed today, as he gave up nine hits while allowing only five hard-hit balls. One of those was a two-run homer from Nick Castellanos, but most of the rest were singles. The nine hits were a season high for him, and the 3 1/3 innings were a season low. Still, the offense picked him up, and he remains 7-1 with his final first-half start probably coming up Wednesday against the Marlins.
