Tidwell actually matched opposing starter Zack Wheeler for the first few frames of this one. He threw a few fastballs that exploded out of his hand at the top of the zone and found a genuine feel for his cutter in the middle innings. Then, he lost his command a bit in the fourth inning and was replaced with just 74 pitches. Reliever José Castillo let one of his inherited runners score in the following at-bat. Tidwell has major league caliber stuff and this Mets rotation is currently in shambles, so he could stick for the time being. If he makes another start in regular rest, it will come next week at home against the Braves.

Reyes will remain in New York after being removed earlier this week from the cross-town Yankees’ 40-man roster. The well-traveled 31-year-old fortifies the Mets’ middle infield depth. He got into one game for the club last year before being shipped to the Yankees. He can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats.

Zuber has yet to make an appearance for the Mets since being acquired last July at the trade deadline in exchange for relief prospect Paul Gervase, who ironically just made his big-league debut for Tampa Bay. The 30-year-old righty has made 56 relief appearances in the big leagues since the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign.
