Bichette will remain on the bench for the third consecutive contest after being scratched from Monday’s lineup with right knee discomfort. The 27-year-old impending free agent remains day-to-day for now and is not expected to undergo any additional testing. Fluharty heads to Triple-A with an ERA of 5.66 over 37 appearances with the Blue Jays after being recalled from Triple-A in Buffalo. It seems likely the 23-year-old will be back at some point before the end of the year, but he will head to the International League with Yimi García (shoulder) coming off the injured list.

It’s his first career seven-RBI game. He’d had six just once before, that coming against the Yankees in a two-homer game almost exactly a year ago (June 27, 2024). He now has 26 career multihomer games. Springer seemed to be in obvious decline over the past couple of years and looked particularly bad this spring, but he’s back performing at an All-Star level now, batting .270/.367/.486 with 13 homers and nine steals in nine tries.

Ortiz broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth with his sixth homer of the year. Four of those six have come in his last six games, as he’s raised his OPS from .492 on June 6 and .541 on June 23 to .579 now. Ortiz had been particularly hopeless with the bases loaded prior to today, going just 2-for-25, with both hits being singles, over the course of his career.

Sweeney is back less than a week after being optioned to Toledo to take the roster spot of Kerry Carpenter (hamstring). The former first-round pick struggled in his previous stint with the Tigers with a .221/.280/.314 slash, and fantasy managers should look elsewhere for a bench option.

Betts receives his first day off since June 2 with rookie Hyeseong Kim getting an opportunity to handle shortstop on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. The 32-year-old fantasy star hasn’t exactly torn the cover off the ball in recent weeks, batting .240 (24-for-100) with just one homer and one steal in 25 games during the month of June.
