This is highly unusual. Doyle will take a seat for the second straight contest with Tyler Freeman patrolling center field and Ezequiel Tovar occupying the leadoff spot. It’s unclear at the moment whether he’s dealing with an injury or lingering physical issue. He’s arguably been the club’s best hitter this season, batting .321 (17-for-53) with three homers, 12 RBI and one steal through 12 contests, and the Padres are throwing lefty Kyle Hart. It’s a developing situation fantasy managers should monitor closely.

Estrada has now missed two straight games since being removed from the game on Tuesday. While the Rockies are referring to him as “day-to-day,” they also admit that he was unable to grip a bat on Tuesday, so there will remain some mild concern until we see Estrada back on the field. Orlando Arcia will start at second base and bat eighth on Thursday.

If you get swept by the ‘worst team of all-time’, does that make you the worst team of all-time? That’s the question the Nationals must ask themselves after getting swept out of their own building by the lowly Rockies. Beck’s eighth inning home run acted as valuable insurance after a James Wood double in the inning before cut their lead to one. That homer – Beck’s ninth on the season – also gave him an .801 OPS in what’s been an excellent rookie season.

Halvorsen could be one heck of a closer if he ever got free from Coors Field. He blew the Nationals away here with seven fastballs that got over 100 mph and two that got up to 102 mph. Few in the league can dial it up like he can.

The bad news is Straw will be out for another game after being removed Tuesday with his ankle injury. The good news is that Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters that Straw’s injury isn’t likely to necessitate a trip to the injured list. He’ll take a seat with Jonatan Clase (knee) back in the lineup in center and Alan Roden playing left field.

Adell got to Ryan Yarbrough in the fifth inning for his 14th home run of the season. It was a 112.9 mph shot that traveled 436 feet. Over his last 30 games, Adell is hitting .244/.352/.533 with eight home runs, 16 RBI, and two steals. He also has just 22 strikeouts in those 30 games, which is a big improvement for him. His batting average may never be high, but the power will be a huge asset if he can keep his strikeouts in check. Adell deserves to be added in most formats while he’s hitting well right now.

Carter takes a seat with lefty Kris Bubic toeing the rubber for Kansas City in this one. The 22-year-old former top prospect has been on a roll over the past few weeks, hitting .293 (12-for-41) with three homers and three steals over his last 15 games. It’ll be Sam Haggerty getting a chance in left field and occupying the leadoff spot in his place on Wednesday night.
