    Brooks Lee

    MIN • 3B • #

Brooks Lee went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Friday night as the Twins bested the Tigers in the opener of their three-game series at Comerica Park.

Lee got the scoring started in the ballgame with a two-out RBI double off of Sawyer Gipson-Long in the fourth inning. He also chipped in an RBI single in the sixth inning that extended the Twins’ advantage to 3-0. The 24-year-old infielder has done a nice job in his time with the Twins this season, slashing a healthy .281/.316/.417 with eight homers, 32 RBI and one stolen base through his first 250 plate appearances.

    Recap

Bailey Ober was tagged four homers and seven runs over 5 2/3 innings by the Tigers on Saturday.

Look at the bright side: it would have been six homers had the game been played at Fenway or Wrigley rather than at Comerica. It just doesn’t look like that one mph Ober lost off his fastball is coming back, though in truth, the slider and changeup have been bigger problems for him. Maybe he’ll figure something out, but those in shallow leagues can’t keep waiting on him. He’ll take a 5.28 ERA into his next start against the Rays.

    Recap

Bryon Buxton went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer Saturday versus the Tigers.

Buxton has been eliminated from the fan vote, but it’d be nuts if he’s not an All-Star for the second time next month. He’s up to 19 homers and 51 RBI, which are both tied for the second-highest totals of his career; he had 28 homers in 92 games in 2022 and 56 RBI in 102 games last season. He also stole his 15th base today, which stands alone as his second-highest total behind the 29 he had in his one relatively full season in 2017. He’s currently third in the AL and seventh in the majors with a .927 OPS.

    Kody Clemens

Kody Clemens is not in the Twins’ starting lineup for Saturday afternoon’s showdown against the Tigers at Comerica Park.

While he has moved around the diamond, Clemens has become a regular in the Twins’ lineup over the past few weeks, seeing the bulk of his time at second base. Unfortunately, that role will likely be cut back substantially next week as Royce Lewis is set to return from the injured list. Willi Castro will move over and cover second base for the Twins on Saturday afternoon.

José Ramírez (forearm) returned to the Guardians’ starting lineup for Saturday’s battle against the Cardinals.

Ramírez sat out Friday’s game as a precautionary measure with a bruised right forearm, but he’s right back in there at third base and batting third against Miles Mikolas and the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon in Cleveland. Fantasy managers can breathe a major sigh of relief.

Blue Jays recalled INF Will Wagner from Triple-A Buffalo.

The 26-year-old infielder will add some depth to the Blue Jays’ infield with Alan Roden heading back to Triple-A Buffalo. Wagner has hit just .186 (11-for-59) with zero homers with two homers and one stolen base in his limited action with the big league club this season.

    Injury

Eugenio Suárez went 2-for-4 on Friday against the Marlins in his return to the lineup.

As expected, Suárez rejoined Arizona’s lineup on Friday night following a two-game absence earlier this week after being hit by a pitch on the right hand. The 33-year-old slugger is on pace to threaten the 50-homer threshold for the first time in his career, so it’s undoubtedly a positive to see him avoid serious injury.
