Goldschmidt will get a chance out of the leadoff spot during Saturday afternoon’s matinee at Yankee Stadium. The 37-year-old veteran hasn’t exactly set the fantasy landscape ablaze this season, but he’s been a stabilizing presence for New York as a platoon first baseman. Ben Rice is on the bench to open Saturday’s contest with veteran southpaw Matthew Boyd taking the ball for Chicago.

The 29-year-old slugger sustained the injury while trying to beat out a double play ball. Fortunately, he told reporters after the game that it wasn’t a big deal and that he believes he can play on Saturday. Be sure to check lineups to be sure before Saturday’s game, but it sounds like there’s nothing to worry about here.
