Boyd was at just 85 pitches after eight, but either he or manager Craig Counsell decided it wasn’t worth him going for his second career shutout and third complete game. Boyd, who opted out of pitching in the All-Star Game, finishes the first half with scoreless starts in three of his last four outings. He has a 1.28 ERA in his last nine starts, and he was pretty good before that, too. He’s one of five major leaguers with 10 victories, and his 2.34 ERA is sixth in the league.

Caratini’s home run was No. 10 on the year for him. The 31-year-old catcher is coming off a career-high 111 OPS+ last year and continuing his hot hitting this year. Caratini is hitting .256 with a .750 OPS and 32 RBI this season. He’s still been irrelevant in most fantasy leagues, but has been essential in two-catcher AL-Only formats.

The 29-year-old backstop got the Orioles on the board with an RBI double off of Brandon Waddell in the second inning. He then rode home on Jordan Westburg’s two-run blast. Jackson also started a rally with a leadoff double off of Justin Hagenman in the sixth inning and scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Westburg. It was an impressive showing from the veteran backstop in his first game with the Orioles this season.
