Thanks to his excellent defense in center, the much-maligned Rafaela has a case for being Boston’s top position player to date. He’s hitting a respectable .255/.303/.407 with seven homers, 28 RBI and 10 steals, and he should be in the mix for a Gold Glove with his work defensively. With playing time less likely to be an issue going forward, he should offer mixed-league value the rest of the way.

Bregman is targeting a return to Boston’s lineup by next month’s All-Star break, which means he’ll likely be ready to kick off a rehab assignment at some point in early July. The 31-year-old third baseman has been out since late May recovering from a quad strain.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Hicks has a really good shot at being ready to join the club when they kick off a series on Friday against the Blue Jays. The hard-throwing 28-year-old came over earlier this month from the Giants in the Rafael Devers blockbuster and figures to pitch in high-leverage relief spots. He’s been out since early June with right toe inflammation.

Crawford is set to undergo further tests after experiencing more wrist issues. The 29-year-old has been on the shelf since spring training and doesn’t appear close at all to making it back to Boston’s pitching mix following this latest setback.

Grisham put the Yankees on the board with a solo homer off Zach Eflin in the first inning. He then added base hits in the second and third for a three-hit day. It was Grisham’s second homer in three games and just the second this month after hitting 13 through May. The 28-year-old outfielder is slashing .249/.349/484 with 15 homers and 37 runs scored across 255 plate appearances.

Mitchell was in the final stages of his rehabilitation process from an oblique strain. Murphy added that the 26-year-old outfielder will be pulled off his rehab assignment to undergo additional imaging after initial results were inconclusive. There’s a significant level of concern here since he underwent left shoulder surgery back in 2023. There should be an update on his status at some point in the coming days.

Straw is back in center field and batting ninth following a three-game absence after suffering a right ankle sprain during Wednesday’s showdown against the Diamondbacks. The 30-year-old is a non-factor for fantasy purposes at this stage of his career, but he’s a decent bench option for the Blue Jays.
