Dollander managed only two strikeouts today. His 19% strikeout rate as a major leaguer is a little disappointing, though he figures to do better with more experience. He wasn’t involved in the decision today, so he’s still 2-7 with a 6.19 ERA. He’ll next pitch at home against the Dodgers.

Trying to close out a one-run lead, Halvorsen gave up a two-out homer to James Wood. The first run, courtesy of the automatic runner, was unearned. Halvorsen was pitching for the second straight day and third time in four days, so he’ll be down Friday. Tyler Kinley or Jake Bird could get a save chance then.

Estrada has now missed two straight games since being removed from the game on Tuesday. While the Rockies are referring to him as “day-to-day,” they also admit that he was unable to grip a bat on Tuesday, so there will remain some mild concern until we see Estrada back on the field. Orlando Arcia will start at second base and bat eighth on Thursday.

If you get swept by the ‘worst team of all-time’, does that make you the worst team of all-time? That’s the question the Nationals must ask themselves after getting swept out of their own building by the lowly Rockies. Beck’s eighth inning home run acted as valuable insurance after a James Wood double in the inning before cut their lead to one. That homer – Beck’s ninth on the season – also gave him an .801 OPS in what’s been an excellent rookie season.
