Paddack was handed nine runs of support so the victory was never really in question, but it’s fair to say he didn’t pitch well. He surrendered six hits — one of those a homer by Gavin Lux — and he struck out three while throwing 51-of-82 pitches for strikes. It’s definitely an improvement on his disaster Friday against the Astros where he gave up a nine-spot in four innings, but it’s a decent distance away from effective. He’ll try and get back on track Tuesday against the Mariners at home.

Clemens hit one of four homers for the Twins on the day with a two-run shot off Nick Martinez. The 29-year-old has swatted seven homers on the season, and he’s slugging a solid .496 for his trouble. Unfortunately, that slugging mark has come with a .219 average, but hey, dingers.

Jeffers doubled in a pair off a wholly ineffective Nick Martinez, and then whalloped a two-run shot off Taylor Rogers that traveled an estimated 448 feet. He’s now homered five times in 2024 with a respectable slash of .255/.352/.400 over 199 at-bats. You can do worse, you can do better.

Buxton hit his first homer to leadoff the game off Nick Martinez, and the 31-year-old took Martinez deep again an inning later. He’s up to 15 homers in 2025, and he’s gone deep in three consecutive contests. When Buxton is healthy, there are few players who match the talent. The question is not if he can keep this up, but if he can be on the field enough to do so. It’s a lot of fun to watch him right now, regardless.
