Smith has been limited to DHing in three games since returning from a mild hamstring injury, and given that it seems he’s not 100 percent, the Rangers might as well sit him against a lefty. It was a poorly timed injury for Smith, given that he had really heated up and collected 13 hits in the seven games before he got hurt.

Dunning had a 4.47 ERA in 46 1/3 innings as a starter for Round Rock. It looks like he could make a spot start Tuesday against the Orioles, assuming that he’s not needed in relief tonight (and he probably won’t be, given that the Rangers used only one reliever Sunday and just sent him down to make room for Dunning).

Lindor finally got the Mets on the board in this one with a 405-foot (104.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Max Lazar in the eighth inning, trimming their deficit to six runs at 7-1. The 31-year-old superstar shortstop also singled in the opening inning but was ultimately stranded at third base. With his two-hit attack, Lindor is now hitting .270/.342/.474 with 16 homers, 42 RBI and 13 stolen bases.
