What a sensational start by Kremer. He had pinpoint command of both his fastball at the top of the zone and splitter below it to decimate the Marlins hitters all game. That splitter accounted for nine of his 12 swings-and-misses and again, he was putting it exactly where he wanted to nearly every time he threw it. While inconsistent, he can always twirl a gem when his command is as good as it was here.

Mountcastle won’t come off the 60-day injured list until later this month, but he’s going to get back into game action next week as he continues to work his way back from a hamstring strain that put him on the shelf back in late May.

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino told reporters Eflin will kick off his rehab assignment this weekend and continue throwing next week. There’s optimism he’ll be ready to return to Baltimore’s rotation in late July. The 31-year-old righty hit the injured list back in late June with lower back discomfort.
