It’s highly unlikely the Marlins would have overcome a 4-0 deficit in the ninth, but Baldwin put the matter to rest in the top of the inning with his home run off Josh Simpson. It was his first homer since June 5 and eighth of the year. He drove in three runs for the first time as a big leaguer.

It’s the longest scoreless outing of his major league career. Holmes benefitted from two double play balls in the game, and he struck out Agustín Ramírez to strand the bases loaded in the fifth. The win makes him 4-6 with a 3.71 ERA. He’ll face the Mets for the first time this season next week.

There was no save chance today with the Braves scoring once in the eighth and three in the ninth to make it a 7-0 game, but the usage of Lee suggests that Raisel Iglesias would have closed for the first time since losing the gig 16 days ago. Lee had since been lined up to close, though the Braves hadn’t presented him with any save chances. In fact, no one on the team has recorded a save since way back on May 16.

Acuña has scored 27 of the Braves’ 111 runs in the 26 games since he came off the injured list. That’s nearly a quarter. He’s been ridiculously good in batting .391/.506/.696, but he still needs some more help.

O’Hoppe swatted a two-run homer off Brandon Walter in the third, and then went deep again with a runner on in the seventh off Kaleb Ort. The 25-year-old backstop is up to 16 homers in 2025, and they’re the first homers O’Hoppe has hit in the month of June. Perhaps this is the game that gets him going again, as he was hitting an ugly .089/.128/.111 in the month prior to Saturday’s game.

Handley fortifies Baltimore’s catching situation while franchise cornerstone Adley Rutschman is on the injured list with an oblique strain. The unheralded 27-year-old backstop went 3-for-40 during a 15-game stint with the club earlier this season while Gary Sánchez was on the shelf. He’ll serve in a backup role behind Sánchez for the next few weeks.

Rutschman underwent an MRI on Saturday morning that revealed an oblique strain after being scratched from Friday’s lineup with left abdominal tightness. Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino told reporters that top prospect Samuel Basallo is not being considered as a call up while Rutschman is sidelined. It’ll be Gary Sánchez and Maverick Handley taking over the catching duties. No word on the severity of the strain, which will determine how much time he misses, but fantasy managers should anticipate a multi-week absence, even in a best-case scenario. It’s the first time Rutschman has required a trip to the injured list since arriving in the big leagues back in 2022.
