He failed to record a strikeout over five innings and walked three batters. It was the third time this season that he’s allowed at least seven earned runs with a pair of those outings coming in the last week. He’ll square off against the Cubs’ high-powered lineup on Sunday at Wrigley Field.

Nolan Gorman will take over at the hot corner on Monday night. The decision appears to be precautionary in nature after Arenado jammed his right index finger during Sunday’s lopsided win over the Guardians. The 34-year-old isn’t expected to miss any time, but he’ll get a break from the field, at least until the swelling subsides.

Nootbaar has been dealing with some intercostal soreness in the area of his ribs for the past couple days and will open Monday’s contest on the bench for the second straight game. The 27-year-old outfielder was just starting to get into a groove at the plate, so the timing of the issue is frustrating for fantasy managers. It sounds like he’ll avoid a trip to the injured list for now, but that’s hardly a guarantee. It’ll be Brendan Donovan heading out to left field with rookie Thomas Saggese subbing into Monday’s lineup at second base.
