    ARI • 3B • #

Eugenio Suárez went 4-for-6 with a pair of homers and three RBI on Friday evening, leading the Diamondbacks to a wild 14-8 victory over the Rockies in a slugfest at Coors Field.

Suárez led off the fifth inning with a 405-foot (98.8 mph EV) solo shot off of Austin Gomber that tied the game at seven runs apiece. Suárez then victimized Ryan Rolison his next time up, that time for a 389-foot (96.2 mph EV) two-run blast that increased the Diamondbacks’ advantage to 11-7. He also led off the eighth inning with a single and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Randal Grichuk. With his four-hit attack, the 33-year-old slugger is now hitting .246/.319/.558 with 24 long balls and 65 RBI on the season.

    Recap

Zac Gallen wasn’t at his best on Friday night, but was still good enough to earn a victory over the Rockies despite allowing seven runs on 10 hits over his five innings of work.

Gallen struck out five batters on the evening while allowing one base on balls. He had allowed just one run through his first three frames until the wheels fell off completely for him in the fourth inning. There, the Rockies scored six times including long home runs off the bats of Ryan McMahon and Mickey Moniak. He settled back in though and worked a scoreless fifth inning, allowing enough time for the Diamondbacks to answer back and put him in line for a victory.

    Injury

Alex Bregman (quad) has resumed baseball activities.

Bregman is targeting a return to Boston’s lineup by next month’s All-Star break, which means he’ll likely be ready to kick off a rehab assignment at some point in early July. The 31-year-old third baseman has been out since late May recovering from a quad strain.

Thomas Saggese is on the bench for Saturday’s contest against the Reds.

Saggese has put together an outstanding season at the Triple-A level, hitting .317 with five homers and five steals across 42 games before returning to the big leagues ahead of Friday’s series opener. The 23-year-old middle infield prospect went 1-for-4 at DH on Friday night. He’ll help fill the void left at the spot with slugger Iván Herrera facing a multi-week absence with a hamstring strain. He’s a name to watch in deeper mixed leagues if he’s able to carve out a semi-regular role.

    Recap

Ramón Urías went 1-for-5 with a solo home run to put his Orioles ahead late in a 5-3 win over the Yankees on Friday.

Urías hit a classic Yankee Stadium home run in the eighth inning of this one off Luke Weaver that just barely stretched over the right field fence next to the foul pole. Despite all the young talent that’s come up through Baltimore over the last four years, Urías still has an everyday job and a spot in the heart of this order.
