Gallen struck out five batters on the evening while allowing one base on balls. He had allowed just one run through his first three frames until the wheels fell off completely for him in the fourth inning. There, the Rockies scored six times including long home runs off the bats of Ryan McMahon and Mickey Moniak. He settled back in though and worked a scoreless fifth inning, allowing enough time for the Diamondbacks to answer back and put him in line for a victory.

Saggese has put together an outstanding season at the Triple-A level, hitting .317 with five homers and five steals across 42 games before returning to the big leagues ahead of Friday’s series opener. The 23-year-old middle infield prospect went 1-for-4 at DH on Friday night. He’ll help fill the void left at the spot with slugger Iván Herrera facing a multi-week absence with a hamstring strain. He’s a name to watch in deeper mixed leagues if he’s able to carve out a semi-regular role.
