Carter smacked a one-out double off of Luis Castillo in the second inning and scored the game’s first run on an RBI knock off the bat of Josh Jung. He then singled in the sixth inning and swiped second base but was left stranded there. The 22-year-old outfielder also was walked intentionally in the 11th inning and swiped second base to get himself into scoring position, but the Rangers couldn’t cash him in. With his three-hit attack, Carter is now slashing .283/.372/.444 with four homers, 11 RBI and eight stolen bases in his first 113 plate appearances with the Rangers this season.

After the Mariners scored a pair of runs in the top half of the 10th inning, Seager answered back with a 395-foot (106.2 mph EV) two-run blast off of Carlos Vargas that knotted things up at three runs apiece. That would wind up being his only hit in four at-bats on the afternoon, though he also worked a walk. The 31-year-old shortstop is now hitting .244/.342/.430 with 10 homers, 22 RBI and one stolen base through his first 52 games on the season.

The 25-year-old right-hander piled up seven strikeouts on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. The lone blemish on his day came on an RBI single by Mitch Garver in his final frame. Leiter generated 14 swings and misses on 88 pitches on the afternoon — five of those on his slider — while registering a CSW of 28 percent. Leiter now sports a 4.29 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 58/32 K/BB ratio over 71 1/3 innings through his first 14 starts on the season. He’ll look to get back in the win column when he squares off against the Padres in San Diego on Saturday.

Semien came up to the plate in the bottom of the 10th with one out and the bases loaded. His walkoff single off Andres Munoz sealed a 3-2 victory for the Rangers. The 34-year-old second baseman’s overall production has fallen off a cliff this year as he’s on pace for his worst season in years.

Both homers were two-run shots. The struggling Cruz hadn’t homered since June 10 or had a multihit game since June 4 or had a multi-RBI game since May 28. It’s his second career two-homer game; he also had one on May 23 just before his slump started.

With the Tigers’ lineup at full strength for the first time all season, manager A.J. Hinch is going to have to mix and match, which means more days off for most of his regulars. On Sunday, that means Pérez and Matt Vierling getting a breather. The 25-year-old outfielder has been awfully impressive through his first 99 plate appearances, slashing .289/.343/.611 with six homers and 17 RBI.

Cruz has batted fifth or lower in each of his last three starts since a highly-public incident earlier this week when he was benched by Pirates interim manager Don Kelly for a lack of on-field energy and effort. The 26-year-old, who has mostly batted leadoff this season, remains one of the most potent power/speed combo threats from a fantasy standpoint, but it would be a hit to his counting stats potential if he remains stuck near the bottom of Pittsburgh’s lackluster lineup for an extended period.
