Houck sat 94 mph on his sinker and struck out two while also walking two. He threw 26 of his 49 pitches for strikes in the outing, but he was also clearly working on some changes, throwing more cutters than he did when he was in Boston’s rotation. Houck’s early-season struggles were not simply injury related, so the Red Sox will continue to work on his approach in the minors in the hopes of recapturing some of that early season magic form 2024.

This isn’t a surprise, but the Red Sox were open to the possibility of using Fitts in relief after calling him up Sunday. Since he hasn’t been needed, he’ll get the nod in Hunter Dobbins’ place versus the Halos.
