The goal is for him to be ready to go next spring, but it doesn’t sound like that’s assured. Because of the shoulder and other injuries, Mitchell has played in just 141 major league games since debuting four years ago, though he’s racked up 3.6 bWAR when he’s been on the field.

Yoho is one of the more intriguing relief prospects in the fantasy landscape, but he got absolutely lit up earlier this season in a handful of appearances for Milwaukee. The 25-year-old will likely head back to Triple-A Nashville at the conclusion of Wednesday’s twin bill.

Ortiz broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth with his sixth homer of the year. Four of those six have come in his last six games, as he’s raised his OPS from .492 on June 6 and .541 on June 23 to .579 now. Ortiz had been particularly hopeless with the bases loaded prior to today, going just 2-for-25, with both hits being singles, over the course of his career.

Nick Mears and DL Hall finished the two-hitter. Peralta struck out six and walked one. Eight of the 14 balls in play against him were hard hit, but those produced just one single, a 112-mph laser off the bat of Pete Alonso. The only other hit came on a soft grounder from Luis Torrens. Peralta improved to 9-4 with a 2.91 ERA, and he’s a candidate to make the NL All-Star team for the second time in his career. He’ll face the Dodgers next week.

It’ll be Cody Bellinger taking over in center field on Wednesday evening with Grisham sitting out his second straight contest following an early exit from Monday’s series opener with left hamstring tightness. The 28-year-old outfielder remains day-to-day.

There’s an avenue for Barrero to make it to Baltimore’s injury-depleted bench mix at some point in the coming weeks with utility specialist Jorge Mateo facing a two-month absence due to a hamstring strain. The 27-year-old elected free agency over the weekend after being jettisoned from St. Louis’ 40-man roster and passing through waivers unclaimed.

He’s now up to 28 steals on the season to go along with 15 home runs, which is propping up his fantasy value that would otherwise be torpedoed by a .210/.322/.416 slash line. The 26-year-old has been disciplined a few times this year for a lack of hustle, and his defense has not shown signs of improvement in center field. Given his poor defense and clear frustration, it might make sense for the Pirates to see what they can get for a talented player with major contact concerns. In the meantime, fantasy managers should continue to put Cruz in their lineup if they need stolen bases, but if you’re doing well in that category, you could also explore trading or benching Cruz.
