Giants 1B prospect Bryce Eldridge has been diagnosed with a right hamstring strain and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.

The Giants are calling it a “moderate” strain, which is expected to keep him sidelined until at least mid-July. The 20-year-old slugging prodigy — who is a top-15 range prospect for dynasty purposes — suffered the injury over the weekend while running the bases at Triple-A Sacramento. The timing of the injury certainly throws a wrench in things for San Francisco as he was expected to make it to the big leagues at some point in the second half as the club’s primary first baseman. That possibility is in serious jeopardy now.
