Guardians’ right-hander Shane Bieber (elbow) got encouraging news this week as follow-up testing revealed no structural damage in his surgically repaired right elbow.

Bieber was sent for a follow-up exam with Dr. Keith Meister who performed his Tommy John surgery after he experienced renewed soreness following a bullpen session in early June. Fortunately, the discomfort that he is dealing with is normal and not structural. The Guardians don’t have a plan yet for when he’ll resume throwing, but it’s certainly an encouraging development.

Gavin Williams allowed two runs over four innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Friday.

Williams allowed six hits, and he walked three while striking out just one. He needed 89 pitches to get through those four frames, and to say he wasn’t efficient is quite the understatement. He’ll get a chance to rebound next week and lower a 3.89 ERA against the Giants on Thursday in San Francisco.
