independent journalist Francys Romero reports that the Brewers plan to promote top prospect Anthony Seigler from Triple-A Nashville.

The 26-year-old backstop is having a solid season at the Triple-A level, slashing .277/.416/.465 with seven homers, 35 RBI, 20 stolen bases and a 51/49 K/BB ratio over 267 plate appearances. He has the ability to play second base and third base in addition to helping out behind the plate and could provide Brewers’ skipper Pat Murphy with another versatile weapon to deploy on a nightly basis. No word yet on what the corresponding move would be.

    Injury

Brandon Woodruff (shoulder, ankle, elbow) allowed four runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings for Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

The veteran threw 53 of his 82 pitches for strikes while walking three and striking out one. Even though he wasn’t sharp, he may have thrown enough pitches to convince the organization that he’s ready to return to an MLB mound. Given his success in Milwaukee, when he’s ready to pitch, he is going to take a spot in the rotation. That means one of Quinn Priester, Chad Patrick, or Jacob Misiorowski will need to head to the minors, unless the Brewers opt to go with a six-man rotation. As of right now, it would appear that Patrick would be the odd man out.
