Paredes’ double in the first inning was reviewed for a home run by the Astros, but the call on the field was upheld. The Astros would go on to score one run on the afternoon on a solo home run by Zack Short despite the two doubles from their leadoff man. Paredes will head into the All-Star break with a .257 average, .825 OPS and 49 RBI.

Peña added that he doesn’t have an exact return timeline yet, but believes he’s moving in the right direction. The 27-year-old is at the Midsummer Classic for the first time in his career, but won’t play in Tuesday’s All-Star Game at Truist Park as he recovers from a fractured rib that he suffered in late June. There should be a clearer return timetable once he begin ramping up baseball activities after the break.

Both pitchers are coming off Tommy John surgery, but Brown seems more optimistic about Javier’s return in 2025. “He’s going to help us this year,” Brown said of Javier, who was up to 95 mph in his first rehab appearance over the weekend. Garcia was up to 94 mph on his fastball, but Brown said, “It’s probably going to take him a little bit longer.”

Neyens is drafted as a shortstop, but there’s almost no chance he’s going to stay there as a 6-foot-4, 210-pound infielder who already doesn’t run well. What he can do, however, is hit for power, as he projects to have double-plus pop in his left-handed. The ball jumps off his bat, so while there’s considerable swing-and-miss in his profile, he also has a chance to hit for average. Neyens is going to need a good deal of development, but his upside competes with most of the infielders in the class.

LaViolette entered the draft as one of the favorites to be one of the first college bats off the board, but an inconsistent — at best — season saw his draft stock drop significantly. When he’s at his best, he’s an outfielder who shows plus power in his left-handed bat, and the exit velocities are generally good. You gotta put the ball into play for that to matter, and he didn’t do that nearly enough in 2025. There’s upside in LaViolette’s arm, but there’s also a good deal of risk.

Vientos has had a season to forget. The 25-year-old third baseman became a household name with an excellent performance in the playoffs last year, but has been one of the bigger fantasy busts this season. Vientos is hitting .233 with a .641 OPS, but could help fantasy teams in the second half of the year if he regains his form from last year.

Bohm will sit out Sunday’s first-half finale against San Diego after being removed from Saturday’s showdown with a bruised left rib cage. There should be a clearer picture of his status coming out of next week’s All-Star break. It’ll be Edmundo Sosa taking over at the hot corner in his absence.
