The right-hander allowed five hits with two walks, and he struck out five. All of the damage was done early, as he gave up a sac fly in the first inning and a two-run homer to Travis d’Arnaud an inning later. The 37-year-old had one of his worst starts of the 2025 season, but that’s more compliment to the other outings than insult to this one. He’ll be heading to the All-Star game, but deGrom is in line to start Saturday against the Astros.

Jiménez augments Texas’ organizational relief depth after spending the last few months in the independent Mexican League. The 31-year-old righty was in camp this spring with Atlanta and didn’t make the club’s season-opening roster. He was a key component of the Athletics’ relief mix the previous three seasons, recording 13 saves to accompany a respectable 3.89 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 80/51 K/BB ratio across 83 1/3 innings (84 appearances), before being non-tendered last offseason.

Seager absolutely clobbered a two-run homer off Yusei Kikuchi to give the Angels a 2-0 lead in the first inning. He’s now up to a dozen homers in 2025 with 27 RBI over 59 games, and that roundtripper along with a single and a walk improves his slash to .250/.353/.455 in his 220 at-bats. All of those numbers have a good chance of improving over the second half of 2025.

Seager gave the Rangers an early 1-0 edge with a run-scoring double off of David Morgan in the opening inning. That would wind up being their only tally in the ballgame. The 31-year-old shortstop is mired in a bit of a disappointing first half by his standards, slashing just .245/.348/.440 with 11 homers, 25 RBI and one stolen base in his first 253 plate appearances.
