For a time this spring, it looked like Domínguez might be the regular leadoff man, but he hadn’t hit higher than fifth in any of his previous 55 starts this season. Clearly, the Yankees think they need a little shakeup after getting shutout in back-to-back games, and Domínguez is batting a fine .269/.353/.438 against right-handed pitchers this season. The Yankees also have Paul Goldschmidt batting sixth, which is the lowest he’s hit to date. Ben Rice and Trent Grisham are out of the lineup versus Kyle Hendricks.

It’s a significant step forward in Gil’s throwing progression as he continues to work his way back from a lat strain that he suffered back in spring training. However, he’ll need several weeks to build up his arm strength and pitch count in the minors before he’s ready to make his season debut, which makes it unlikely he’ll return before next month’s All-Star break. He’s worth stashing in deeper fantasy formats on the likelihood that he makes an impact, especially in the strikeouts department, over the final two months of the year.

Stanton, 35, will get a break after playing in his first two games back as the designated hitter. The Yankees will likely give the outfielder some maintenance days throughout the 2025 campaign. He’ll take a seat with Jasson Dominguez operating as the DH and hitting eighth.

Rice will make his first as a catcher in the majors. Assuming this doesn’t become a disaster, there’s a good chance the 26-year-old will get a few more starts behind the plate, and it not only helps his fantasy stock for 2025, but would be a big booster for the 2026 prospectus as well. Austin Wells is getting Wednesday off with Rice behind the plate.

As Feinsand notes, the Angels “have been hesitant to trade Ward during the past two years,” but he has a near $8 million salary and only one more year of club control, so this could finally be the time. Ward has 18 home runs in his first 69 games this season while also driving in 47 runs with a .741 OPS. He ranks in the 86th percentile in barrel rate and the 87th percentile in chase rate this season, and really turned his year around after a slow start. Feinsand lists the Guardians, Padres, Rays and Royals as potential trade partners.

Most importantly, Chandler walked one after his struggles with command before. Still, throwing only 42 of 79 pitches for strikes is not ideal. He struck out three and is still too good to be staying at Triple-A. We’re not sure what the Pirates are asking him to work out in Triple-A, but he can likely do that in MLB games as well.
